SCREEN WRITING 1: FROM IDEATION TO CREATION

Tuesday Nights From 5:30 to 6:30 - Class fee $75.00 ($65.00 if registered by May 3rd)
Where do ideas come from? Once I have an idea, where do I go from there?

What is a Log Line? What foes a properly formatted script look like? These are a few of the questions we will answer in this four week course. There are a lot of theories about how to properly outline a script... from format to final delivery, we will go over the process step by step. We will look at the

Syd Field 3 Act Structure model and the more modern Blake Snyder approach.

We will explore Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey Paradigm and how it translates to storytelling. You will learn some techniques to discover new ideas for stories, discuss the importance of character, plot, and pacing. Finally, you will write a short scene, collaborate with other students, and learn the art of critique and its importance to the creative process. This class can be taken in conjunction with Screen Writing 2 if you like. Call for details and availability.

SCREEN WRITING 2: HOW TO CRAFT YOUR FIRST DRAFT

Tuesday Nights From 6:30 to 8:30 - Class fee $125.00 ($100.00 if registered by May 3rd)
This is an eight week course focused on the script writing process. You will come to class with three ideas for a full length script (90 to 120pgs) discuss the ideas with your instructor and other students, choose a story and dive right into the writing process. The goal of the class is to develop the first draft of your script. Step by step, from the beginning of act one to the conclusion of act three, we will discuss the importance of each area of your script, critique the work thus far, rewrite the scenes based on notes and in class collaboration, then plan the next fifteen pages. If you are diligent and committed to the writing, by the final class you will have the first draft of your script in hand. This class is limited to five students so that each student can receive the amount of attention needed to meet the deadline and complete their script. Call directly to check for available slots. 503-888-5141. This class can be taken in conjunction with Screen Writing 1.

This is not a Meisner class, No Stanislavski here! This is not an over the counter substitute. This is the real deal. I don't believe in 'acting' I believe in 'reacting' and the art of listening. This is a five week course designed to get you performing scenes right away, discuss the fundamentals of 'reacting', work with and critique other students, and receive direct feedback from a professional actor/producer/director and casting agent.
